Enter Recharge Numbers Online
Back from the Post Office, Recharge Slip in Hand
So you have already signed up for a Taobao account, and then you bought a recharge slip. Now you will use that recharge slip to add money to your Taobao account. You can find a link to the recharge page on the front page of Taobao Field Guide
.,
You will see this page, and click 充值码
Next click the third option called 网汇E

Now you will enter in the two numbers. The first one is the top number on the post office receipt. The second one is the six-digit number that you typed in at the Post Office.

Success!
Now your account is charged with money! You can find out your account balance by checking your Alipay Transaction Control Panel.

You’re ready to buy stuff now!
When you add money to your Taobao account, it will stay in your account until you spend it. Before you take those first steps out into the world of Taobao, you might want to take a short primer on buying stuff, and then look around at all the cool stuff there is to buy.

How do I find out how much money I have in my account?!
To find out your account balance, check your Alipay account. Info updated into post.
What has happened to TaoBao? When I try to add money it says that i cant?!?!
currently not working?
Hey folks. Seems like a temporary disruption of Alipay’s Wanghui E service.
I have seen this before. It should be back online in a few hours.
Hah…I just picked up a wanghuiE slip for 3000 kuai and service already down for 2 days. Hope it comes back online soon.
Thanks for the Field Report, Wuxia.
It does seem like this part of Alipay is still currently not working. There is plenty of angry rabble on the Alipay message boards.

We will keep our eyes on it.
Yey! it worked!
Hey that’s great! Thanks Wuxia.
So if I go to the post office and get a sheet and then enter the numbers and it gives me the success screen, why don’t I see any balance for myself at the Alipay transaction control panel? What went wrong?
Hi Russell, Are you seeing a balance of 0.00 or do you see no numbers at all?
Try checking at this link:

how do i buy recharge card online
Hi Stanley, If you are not in China and can’t buy a paper recharge slip, our advice is to work with a Taobao Agent. There are places where you can buy Taobao recharge cards online, but the expense is actually greater than the small commission that these agents charge. Plus, the agents offer much more service for that lower cost. Check ‘em out.
Is something wrong with WangHui E again? I can’t seem to recharge my account
Could be. The system seems to hiccup sometimes. Wait a couple of hours and if it is still giving you trouble, let us know!
Strange…I’ve been unable to recharge for over 24 hours. Am I doing something incorrect? This is the message I get: 网络异常
Any suggestions?
Hi MRC, I met this problem before, and I called taobao service hotline, they’d usually first suggest you to to to IE options to clean up cookies and temperary file first, restart IE and log in again. you try again after you log in, if it still doesn’t work, then they’d say, hmmmm… looks like the server is not fixed yet…. but I saw on the forume, some ppl recharged successful after they did this. if not, you’ll have to wait for some more hour then…. Good luck!
Laobanniang always comes through with the info! Try out the IE cookies fix and let us know if you still have trouble, MRC.
Thanks for all the suggestions! I tried Labanniang’s suggestions however it still did not work. Finally, I called the hotline and it turns out they are having server issues with WangHui E service and just asked me to try again on Monday.
However, when I went to look at my account, it seems that one of my attempts actually worked because my money is now in the account! I have no idea how this happened.
I’m not sure what the issue is with their server, but the lady on the phone said they have been having complaints since after the Dragon Boat Festival.
For reference, the hotline number is (0571)8815-6688
Thanks for the Field Report, MRC! We may have to make you a TFG Deputy.
i am not in china.i want to buy ticket.can i let my mum go post office rechange my money?how?
If you’re not in China, it won’t be possible to recharge your account. But that’s okay because there is a much easier way to buy from Taobao for you. Just contact a good Taobao Agent.
These guys just make it happen, and I love that about ‘em.
I was able to add money, but now Alipay wants to install an IE control, and Taobao wanted to install something from the ZHEJIANG COMPANY NAME IN ALL CAPS. Is it necessary to install these for correct functionality? And if so, does this mean that Opera can’t be used with Taobao?
Thats a big yes.
For optimum Taobao experiences, stick with IE. Firefox should also work, as will Chrome, usually. I use Chrome, but still periodically have to copy/paste the address into IE when I have to type in a password.
Opera is just a bit too far outside the mainstream for Taobao’s security measures. But the wonderful people at the Alipay UED team are always making updates and refinements. Maybe Opera will be added to the mix sometime soon.
How about the plugin with the dodgy name? It’s software that can potentially sieze control of my whole system. QQ has a bad reputation, and I’m not sure about Taobao or Alipay.
IE keeps briefly saying it blocked the ZHEJIANG plugin from installing due to security reasons, and then flashing to the alipay plugin, which never seems to install. Let me guess, taobao is hard-coded to IE6…I’ve got IE8 on Vista.
I’m also curious as to how Chrome could work, given that the plugin only works on (some versions of) IE. I can’t buy now.
Hey Vern,
All this stuff should work. Alipay is supposed to work on at least all versions of IE, and it really has a strong connection with IE8 in particular.
If you see the ZHEJIANG plugin when you access Taobao or Alipay, go ahead and install it. I think you can override IE’s objections by clicking where it says ‘We blocked this plugin’
I will be in Beijing only for a few weeks and probably won´t have time to play with Taobao, nor is my Chinese advanced enough, but there is an elextronic dictionary (Korean product) I want to buy and probably cannot find it elsewhere or in normal shops. I´ve signed up for Taobao to send a message to the seller, which is not an individual but a company dealing with such dictionaries located at BFSU. (No reply yet) As they put in on their Taobao profile, they prefer online transactions and goods are cheaper on the net and I don´t know whether they will be willing to sell me the dictionary personally.
I was wondering is there something like Taobao Now that would help me get good from Taobao IN CHINA??
Thanks
Hi Cathy, Understand that you have to hit the ground running. I think that any of the agents listed on our Taobao Agents page will be happy to send your package wherever you may be. Good luck!
Hi!
I can’t go to my “已买到的宝贝” , the speed is real slow and it seems to be impossible to get in.
Except this one , taobao website still work normally …
Hi Poooh, I tried just now, it works fine. try again later, I think it might be temporary problem~ =)
The first screenshot has changed, the item circled doesn’t appear (at least in my alipay)
Hi. First, thank you so much for this website; I have been in Shanghai for 4 years and now is the first time I’m using Taobao by myself.
I just used your information to add money to my account (yeah!). I am using Safari 4, and noticed some difference in your screen shots on mine (just like Henry did). No matter, I figured it out. All the characters you point us to are still there.
One really cool thing you can consider is turning all this into a movie and posting on QuickTime; new Snow Leopard for Mac can make this really easy.
Hi Mike, Thanks a lot for your suggestion!!=D We think it’s a really cool idea! We definitely will consider add some movies to some of our most viewed key guides. It’s just only Laoban and Laobanniang(ME~) working on TFG on our week day evenings and weekends, there’s a lot work piling up when the website gets more and more attention. We’re kinda short handed… We’ll try our best to make it happen soon… =’D
Hi, I have some problem here with recharging. I bought the recharge card from the post office here, i successfully added the money as it’s shown here, but then i check my account and the balance is 0,00!!!
what should i do?
Also, i have problems with linking the bank card to taobao, the “button” doesn’t seem to work at the last part (i passed the id part)…..
Getting sick of all these mafan!!!
I really messed up… I forgot my password for my wang hui E card, what do I do now?
Hi Charmaine,I just find an answer on the internet. Looks like you need to go to the post office to 挂失密码(Gua4 shi1 mi4 ma3)(report lost of password). You’ll need to bring your passport to confirm your identity, and your wanghui-e recharge receipt. You’ll have to wait for 7 days before you can go to the post office again to reset the password(重置密码chong2 zhi4 mi4 ma3) for the same receipt, so DON’T throw it away until your money is in your Alipay balance. Good luck~~ =) BTW, The post office will charge you 10 kuai for reseting your password…
Thank you – your field guides are a wealth of information and I am so grateful for your help!
Hello Field Guide, I recharged today successfully of 100 yuans following the same procedure as you mentioned. I noticed that i got 150 points. Can you tell me what are these points for ???
The points are Alipay points, they are given to you as an award for charging money in your Alipay account. they can be used to attend Taobao organized activities such as lucky draws, exchange for coupons or exchange for products etc. Taobao often has these activities around holidays.
Hello friends,
I bought a recharge coupon(Wang hui e) from Post-office on 1 march and when i came back to my room and entered the correct details to recharge then i got this message 该汇票号已充值成功,请查询。 From that very time i am getting the same message again and again. Please suggest me what should i do for this.
This message means you have successfully put your money in your alipay account. Please check your balance.
Yes laobanniang but i haven’t received the amount of 100 yuans…I was already having 100 yuans in my zhifubao and it should be 200 but it is same 100…I just returned from the post office they said me to contact taobao care for help…But my Chinese is so bad…I will have to take help of my friend…Is there any hotline(care) in English too ?
That’s weird…. Taobao doesn’t have hotline in English, but you can try speak English with the staff. They’re all young people, should be able to understand some English. Taobao Service Number: 0571-88157858
I called on this telephone number with the help of my Chinese friend…they told that there was a system problem…assured that i might get the money in my account by tomorrow evening 6 pm…keeping my fingers crossed !
I received the sum ! Thankx to Taobao !
hi , there .
i just went back from post office and got my recharge slip but when i tried to sigh in i cant put my password it says :
You have not yet install the password security control, after installation you can enter a password.
Control, you can encrypt the password protection, to enhance Taobao account security.
Please click on “Install Now
when i tried to install its appears weird words but i still cant sign in ?
Hi Sayang, This security plug-in is only compatible with Windows system and IE browser, Please try again with them if you were not using them, or you can also check out comments regarding to this under these 2 posts here and here.
It’s a known and not fixed problem with Taobao plug-ins. Wish you good luck~ =)
Done , THANKS laobanniang.
My first shopping from taobao have succeeded,i’m so excited for the next shopping .
Congrats Sayang~~ =D
hey
great forum lots of lovely people just what i need
hopefully this is just what im looking for looks like i have a lot to read and then a lot to wright
after my first recharge WanghuiE, how to recharge with another some RMB?
THanks for the great guide; this worked perfectly on my 1st try. Here are a couple notes that will be useful to some people:
- For me, it was even easier than detailed above. All I needed to write on the paper was my English name and the amount. Nothing else.
- If you have a smartphone, you can enter it on the spot at the Post Office (useful when doing a small one first to test).
- You can only make one refill per day (with the standard unverified Taobao account), and the max amount is 5000 RMB each. If you have done a test one, it will tell you that you need to wait to the next day to enter the next recharge.
Hello everybody,
Anyone can explain me how to recharge for the second time my zhifubao account? I mean add money for the second time. Should I fill in the same form at the post office with the same name I wrote down the first time? How does it work? I still have the first recharge coupon. Is that number necessary?
Thanks a lot!
Bye bye
Hi XiaoKeAi, yes you can recharge for the 2nd time. Just fill in the same form the same way you did last time. The receipt of last time’s recharge is useless now if you have already seen your money show up in your alipay balance.
I went to a pay1.com.cn booth and selected top up taobao account. I entered my mobile phone number and amount (RMB100) and received a receipt showing my mobile number, amount recharged plus some other numbers which I assume I have to enter somewhere to recharge my alipay account.
However I cannot work out which screen I am supposed to choose. Can anyone help please?
Hi Karen, I checked out this pay1 website you mentioned. It seems to be a web service to pay/recharge phone bills, and utility bills. Please check if the 100RMB is now charged into your mobile phone balance. It’s not supposed to be used to charge your Alipay account…
thanks laobanniang, but there is a button on the screen that says something like top up taobao account. so does that mean i can’t use the number on the slip i got to recharge my alipay account?
Hi,
I just topped up my account with the wang hui e slip and it said that the transaction was successful. However, when I check my balance, it says its 0.00. I have also checked the link provided in one of the posts above and it still shows 0.00. What could be wrong?
Hi Karen, I searched in this pay1 website again, still didn’t find any service for recharging taobao account, I don’t think this is the right place to go…
Hi David, It’s probably a delay of the transaction between the post office and Alipay system. Wait till tomorrow and check again, it might take up to 2 work day to arrive to your account some times.
hi laobanniang, sorry to be a nuisance. The pay1 website is unhelpful – doesn’t have a lot of detail – but I was wondering whether there is anywhere on the alipay recharge website, similar to where you enter the post office recharge numbers, where I may be able to enter the recharge code I got from this kiosk? I have tried entering the 16 digit number on a few different screens but it hasn’t worked so far, and translating all the different screens has not been very helpful! thanks
Hi Karen, I’m not sure what 16 digit number you are talking about… I’m afraid I can’t help you with this. Please try to use the normal post office recharge method we recommended here. Hope you can make your first successful Taobao purchase soon
Please update this post with new screenshots and instructions – the screens have changed and no longer look like they did when this was written 1 1/2 years ago. Thanks!
I have an updated screenshot I just grabbed while adding money, where can I send it to you guys? You can email me (the “Notify me of follow-up comments via e-mail” checkbox doesn’t seem to work on your website, I’ve checked it several times and never gotten notification even though several additional comments have been added to each one).
Wang hui E seems to be unaccessible, when i try to charge my account. There’s no more 网点充值 written.
Can someone confirm me this ? Or update the article.
Thank you !
Hi Vincent, some updates above!
Wang hui E link is missing from the website………..any updates ???
I managed to register an account, get my WangHuiE at the post office, recharge and made my first 2 purchases (yet to arrive) all in one day!
I bought 2 WangHuiE from the post office and want to recharge both since I’ve nearly used up all the money in the first one. But taobao won’t let me. Can I only add to my alipay account through the post office top up once a day?
Can someone also please clarify whether I go to the post office and complete the same WangHuiE from every time I want to top up? It seems the post office doesn’t have knowledge of my taobao account. So theoretically, I can ask anyone to get me a WangHuiE as long as they tell me the password they entered at the post office.
I want to buy a ton of things but not being able to add any more money into the account today is depressing!
When I click at the link at the frontpage of TFG there is no option to enter the WanghuiE nummer nor can I select 充值码.
It asked me to enter my Taobao account or my AliPay account?
Can someone uptdate this? It seems that it has changed.
It looks like the links on the top of this page are broken. “You can find a link to the recharge page on the front page of Taobao Field Guide” is not true either – I can’t find it.
I am sure there used to be a direct link here to the alipay update page – I’ve used it multiple times. Seriously, could you just put it back? Thanks.
It appears that customers now have to sign in with their real name and passport number and all that stuff when they want to check theír own credit.
抱歉,您的淘宝账户rosecubbage尚未绑定支付宝账户。
This is the message I get every time I go to the yuan link on the front page of the field guide. What is the problem? It’s ben like this for a couple days. Is it something I haven’t done?
Why is it telling me I need a paypal account?
Hi Rose –
It is still working A-OK for us (tested on Chrome, FF and IE). Is it back online for you yet?
I’ve just got credits from the post office. I tried to find the Wang hui link but it doesn’t appear in the options to recharge, instead I get post office, I click there and then I get a screenshot that explains where the number I need to input is on my receip…any idea where can I input the number and password to get my credits?
Thanks
For me it’s the same than Jean, seems that the system change… Now you first need to bu something and then go to the post office to pay it. How can I enter my credit? I try several way but cannot find one working!
Thanks in advance
ok I find what was wrong, you can not enter the number directly when you are buying an object. I had to go in my alipay account first and then add money from my alipay page.
Hi..
I added money at the post office, have my receipt and I went to the correct page. However, I could not enter my PIN number. Instead, I had to download some sort of security plug-in or add-on. I’m not sure what this did, because nothing happened even after I installed the “safety” measure. It said to restart my browser so I did. I went back to the page to enter my PIN number, but I still could not enter it. What is happening? Has something changed on the website?
Please help! This could mean a loss of 3000 kuai.
Thanks!
On your alipay account you can find there two tabs just exactly below the account balance. below 账户安全等级 (account security level) choose this tab 立即充电. Here you could find the wanghuiE.
You can also make only one recharge by post on 1 day.
if not enough, you have to wait for the day after to make new recharge
I went to the post office to try to buy a Wang Hui E, but they asked me what seller I wanted the money to go to. I tried to ask them if I could just put it on my account, but I don’t think they understood me, as my chinese is very broken. How do I ask to just put money on my taobao account?
Just wondering, anyone here from Hong Kong? Is purchasing one of those recharge slips from OK convenient store the same as purchasing the recharge slip from the China post office?
After reading all your posts, playing with the site and google translate all afternoon, and becoming aware of the ridiculous amount of time and paperwork and passwords involved just to save a few RMB online, I have decided that Alipay is entirely not worth it unless you find something at an amazingly good price and you anticipate saving thousands of RMB for your efforts. I really could have spent the 5 or 6 afternoon I spent fiddling with Taobao/Alipay shopping and haggling my way to a good deal.
Between paperwork/bullshit at the bank, the post office, and this absurd site, and cranky/unreliable delivery guys from the Taobao shops, I’m officially waving the white flag and giving up. No more world of financial transactions that take place in the real-world manifestation of a Kafka novel for me! As much as I would like to buy cheap crap online for very low prices, what seemed convenient actually made everything much more complicated in the end, even with the help of sufficient Chinese speakers.
Hi all.
I’ve been working through this all afternoon and still have some issues to sort out before it will work. First of all, I was able to get the slip and fill it out and pay the money and enter a pin code all at the post office. No problem. When I clicked on the button (on the homepage of this website) to recharge my account, it took me to a different page than what this tutorial is showing. Working with Google Translate, I thought it was telling me I needed to bind my TaoBao account to my PayPal account, but after much frustration, I figured out that it was mis-translating PayPal. What the website meant was AliPay, not Paypal. So I “bound” (their words) my TaoBao account to a new AliPay account that I created, and then I was able to move on to the next step in this tutorial. Then, however, I ran into a problem trying to enter my six-digit pin number. It said I needed to install a security plug-in. So I clicked the link for the Safari plug-in (I’m running a MacBook Pro) and installed it as directed (all using Google Translate). It seems to have been a successful install, but when I get to the step where I am to enter the pin number, it still says I’m missing the plug in. Frustrated, but hoping someone here might have a tip or two to help me on my way.
Thanks!
Today i’ve been trying to recharge Wang Hui E receipt online but Alipay keeps telling me Recharge Failed (充值失败!) or either Sorry, due to network reasons, you are temporarily unable to use the current top-up services, please wait and then use. (抱歉,由于网络系统的原因,您暂时无法使用当前的充值服务,请稍候再使用) Is there anyway i could get my money back?
I just checked my balance today and it was there. It took 3 days. But lucky me. Thank you guys.
Thanks TFG, I got it working! Much easier than doing it from my online BOC account…
I must note however that my receipt from the Post Office looks a little different to the one on this page and the one shown in the above example. The number that I entered was the first printed set of numbers on the receipt.
I’m using a Mac and trying to charge up my Alipay account. I get to the correct page after following the links and guide above. However, whatever browser I try and use (Firefox, Safari, Chrome), inside the box where you need to enter the pin it keeps telling me that my activeX controls are out of date and recommends I download Safari 5. I’m using Safari 5.1!! and I can’t seem to find any activeX controls that need updating. Has anyone else had this problem and knows a solution??
I am trying to recharge my account. It has asked me to download a security application to input my password. I installed but the application does not open when I try to put my password in. Your website dows not address this download.
I am not able to plug in my pin. I am using a Mac, and have tried both Chrome and Safari. I have downloaded the plug in but still is says, “Missing Plug In”. Any suggestions?
Anyone else experiencing issues recharging with wan hui e this week? I somehow always end up at some error page just after inputing order number and pin
Hi there!
I did everything like you wrote, registered in both TaoBao and AliPay, went to China Post, got my “Wang Hui E” ticket, but can’t recharge my account… It keeps showing me this message “充值失败!该汇票号已充值成功,请查询。”. So, should I wait or got to go to the China Post again? Thank you in advance.
I have bought my credit and want to charge my alipay account. Upon entering the secret pin, i was to download a file for my Mac. I did that, but to no avail. Please help.
