Scotch Whiskey Delivery

Red Label is my medicine, and Taobao is my Doctor.
Sweet sweet medicine. There is no finer sight than a cabinet filled with a neat row of Red Label. You can – and should – stock up for the coming season. Pro tip: just call these guys up and tell them what you want. They can deliver to your door and you can pay with cash. Taobao not required! Of course, you can still go through normal Taobao channels.

Product in bottles is genuine. Bottles always dusty or dirty, labels torn, and manufacturer’s packaging always dirty, torn frayed, what have you. Delivery is a big problem, with long delays. Never on the day scheduled, and never even close to the time scheduled. You can wait all day without any courtesy call to say when delivery will be. Total lack of care. Very poor English. Unreliable stocking. A totally unreliable and discourteous service.

Such yet are the dangers of Taobao! Sorry for your bad experience with them. Were you using the Beijing or the Shanghai store? We have used the Shanghai store with success and courtesy, but for the Beijing store we conducted only minor due diligence. Neither are sponsors or anything like that, so if you have a suggestion for another good source, I’d be happy to switch them out!

I quite approve of your choice of medicine, but would like to suggest a tonic of my own choice, Laphroaig 10 yr. I hope your connection stocks it!

On another note, my Hong Kong partner and I plan to import boutique Australian Wines for Chinese consumers. Some larger commercial labels and the very high end labels are already available in China, via ASC Fine Wines and Aussino.

However, the really interesting, smaller vineyards, which often produce wine every bit as good as the “name” labels, are unavailable.

We would like to utilize the Taobao mall to offer these, but need comprehensive information on the requirements and rates for mall “tenants”. Can you advise where I can get these in English, or where my partner can obtain the Chinese text?

    Thanks,

    Marc.
